Spiritgate Medicine holistic and natural healing
ancient medicine in a modern world
Dr. Bonnie McLean Spirit Gate Medicine
I recently received the following letter from a patient:

I want more people to be aware of my tribulations from Lipitor. It is the
most prescribed drug and many dismiss the initial symptoms as just
ordinary
pain. Who knows how many fiber-myalgia and carpal tunnel syndrome folks
are
just having normal reactions from their statin use. How many are also on
anti-depressants like I was because they have not connected the dots. It
starts slowly and eventually it causes psychotic episodes that in my case
were again dismissed as normal "depressive" behavior. I had no mental
illness and suddenly I'm on anti-depressants just to function. I went
from
using one prescribed medicine to using five (statin, pain medication,
anti-inflammatory, muscle relaxer, anti-depressant) just to keep
functioning. I am now again medication free and hope to stay that way.
One last comment...I did my share of recreation drug use when I was younger
but nothing messed me up physically and mentally more than my legal prescription drug usage.
To aid in recovery I have added
2000 Mg Vitamin C
1000 Mg Lysine
1000 MgL-Carnitine
120 Mg CoQ10
 and Vitamin B Complex
supplements daily to my other
Omega and Multi-Vitamins.

Many people are becoming interested in having more tools for self-empowerment with their own health.  CieAura Transparent Holographic Chips can be an effective way to treat yourself for many of the health issues and imbalances that can be treated with acupuncture.

These patches are drug and chemical free.  They can be placed on certain acupuncture points to give the cells an extra boost and  to balance the body's own energies by re-aligning the meridians ( energy pathways ) of the body.

They can be helpful in regaining a sense of well being, clarity, and stamina.  They have been shown to be helpful for such problems as pain, sore muscles, and difficulty sleeping.

Staying Healthy

Allergies

What causes allergies?

Allergies are caused by an oversensitive immune system causing it to become hyper- responsive.    If the immune system is out of balance, it will treat often harmless substances as hostile irritants and attempt to expel them from the body.  This attempt to rid the body of the preceived invaders creates the symptoms of allergy  eg. such as sneezing, itchy and watery eyes, and a runny nose.

Because of the extended cold winter and unusually hot summer  in the U.S. we have experienced very high pollen counts this year.  In addition those of us on the Gulf are dealing with symptoms of allergies and flu that may be connected to the oil spill.

Chinese Medicine ( acupuncture and Chinese herbs ) and a specific acupuncture approach for allergies called NAET  ( www.naet.com ) can be very helpful in treating allergies, in treating stress which often exacerbates them, and in building the immune system as part of a prevention program.  Diet and nutritional supplementation as well as homeopathy can also be very helpful.

NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENTATION

I often advise supplementation as part of my treatment plan.  There are several reasons I may recommend a regimen of vitamins, minerals, and herbs.  Many health problems are related to a deficiency in one or more nutrients that should be found in our customary diets but may not be.  Unfortunately, because of modern farming practices, our soils have  become depleted of valuable nutrients or our fruits and vegetables may not be allowed to ripen properly; therefore our food may not contain their optimal nutritional value.  In addition, cigarettes, alcohol, white sugar, and emotional stress, as well as pesticides, additives, and hormones can create stress on the body and deplete it of valuable nutrients.  The first organ system that emotional stress affects is the digestive tract, meaning a person may not be effectively absorbing the foods he or she eats.  The aging process also has an effect on the digestive tract, especially the HCL in the stomach.  The organs of elimination, such as the liver and kidneys may also need some assistance in their detoxification process.

I may also recommend nutritional supplementation as a natural alternative or adjunct to medication.  For example, Vit. B 5 has been shown to have a soothing effect on allergic responses.  Anti-oxidants, such as Vit. C, can be used to decrease allergic reactions as well as promote healing and act as anti-inflammatories.  Vit. B6 may be recommended for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.  Vit. E  can benefit the heart and circulatory system.  It is recommended by most medical practitioners that women over 40 supplement their diets with calcium and other nutrients to prevent osteoporosis.  Many medical practitioners also recommend Glucosamine and/or Chondroitin ( often with MSM ) for arthritis.

You may or may not experience an immediate effect with recommended supplements.  These supplements are supporting the body to heal itself, and this may be subtle and may take time.  You should, however, experience results within 2-3 months.  Herbs and other specific nutrients I may suggest are usually recommended for a limited amount of time.  Please inform me of any untoward effects you may experience taking the nutrients suggested.  Also please keep me informed if you wish to continue any of these supplements on a long term basis.  Some herbs, such as echinacea, are designed for only short term use.  I never suggest that my patients discontinue their prescribed medications.  If you are taking any medications,  I suggest that you take any supplements or herbs that I recommend two hours separately from your allopathic medications.  I recommend that if you are beginning a regimen of Chinese herbs, that you start with a third of the recommended dose and gradually build it up.  Please let your doctor know what you are taking.

I  do recommend to my patients that they take a good multi-vitamin/mineral supplement on a regular basis.

I also usually recommend  bone building and hormone balancing programs for post menopausal women.

I don't understand why asking people
to eat a well-balanced vegetarian diet
Is considered drastic,
while it is medically conservative
to cut people open.
