Invitation to Desert Women's Ceremonies at Yulara

25th-30th August, 2008

"The time has come," says Nellie Patterson, Pitjantjatjara Elder from
Central Australia, "for us to come together as
sisters, so
we invite you to join with us, to come and sit, to come and listen, to
witness and learn."

This means that we come with no feelings, no thoughts, no opinions,
that we
come 'empty', in order to be totally present and behave as is requested
of
us with deep respect for what is being shared.

This level of ceremonial interaction between our Desert Sisters and us
has
not been experienced before and there is a certain protocol that must
be
followed in order for there to be a successful outcome.

You also need to be aware that there will be a certain amount of
discomfort
(no comfy armchairs or showers!) Much of the time we will be sitting on
the
Earth so think deeply whether your body is prepared for a journey away
from
the supports that you are accustomed to having around.

We will provide:

Swags (A swag is like a canvas envelope with zippers on both
sides, sort of a flat personal tent. Inside is a small foam mattress.)
Let
me know if you have your own swag and will be bringing it with you.

Food (Ingredients for Vegetarian food will be supplied.)

         Cooking equipment

        Eating utensils

Transport from the Outback Pioneer Motor Inn, Yulara at
approx 12
noon on 25th August, 2008 to the Ceremonial site.

30th August, 2008 if you wish to fly out on that day.

skills. (You need to arrive at Yulara on 24th August, 2008)

shared
with our Aboriginal sisters, for their food and service to us.
